The Meiji-era playhouse "Korakukan" was built in 1910 as a welfare facility for the Kosaka Mine employees. The exterior of the building is Western-style, while the interior is purely Japanese-style. Its most distinctive feature is its blend of Japanese and Western styles, which is rare for a playhouse. Staff dressed in black costumes will guide you through the Korakukan facility. This is a calligraphy experience focusing on kanji. It is a Japanese-style room with tatami mats, but you can choose to practice on calligraphy paper at a Terakoya desk and chair while sitting upright.
