This is a tea mat weaving experience at the Genta Dyeing and Weaving Studio. Just choose your favorite color of thread and weave! From small children to the elderly, even first-time weavers are welcome♪ Foreigners can also enjoy weaving with hand gestures and go home. We have received comments that it is "pretty good" as a mouse pad. Since it is an indoor activity, you don't have to worry about the weather. You can experience it in the quaint workshop inside the castle of Aya International Craft. Staff who have been weaving for nearly 50 years will teach you carefully. ~ Flow of the day ~ ① Choose thread Choose your favorite color from the prepared thread. ② Staff explanation Staff will explain how to weave while demonstrating. ③ Weaving experience Feel free to weave. 友人4人と予約体験、あいにくの天気のためか人が少なく、私たちにはラッキーなことにゆっくりと体験できました。縦糸、横糸共に好きな色を選択できるのも良し、機織りというなかなか体験できないことに参加できてとても楽しかったです。糸の引っ張り具合によってできるティーマットの長さが違うのも、当たり前ではあるのでしょうが面白かったですね。何よりオーナー夫妻のお人柄のおかげでとても楽しい時間となりました。

Amamie Kobo is a quiet creative space renovated from an Oshima Tsumugi factory. Here, you can experience making your own original T-shirt using the "Amami Bingata" stencils, which are based on the plants and scenery of Amami. It's a special time to hand-dye your own one-of-a-kind shirt while feeling the nature and culture of the island. It's perfect as a memento of your trip or as a souvenir. ~Schedule for the day~10:00 Choose a T-shirt and decide on a designChoose a T-shirt in your preferred size and color, and decide on a design using the Amami Bingata stencils. There are motifs that are typical of Amami, such as plants and scenery. 11:00 Mix the pigments and start dyeingMix the pigments according to the design you have chosen, and dye the T-shirt with the base color. You can enjoy the unique flavor of handmade work. 11:30 Add a point pattern and finish it off by dryingAdd a point using the Bingata stencil to complete the design. Finally, dry it and your original T-shirt is ready!

I use various parts of the plant to get the color on the cloth. Put the dyeing plant in a pot and heat it to make a dyeing solution. Dye the cloth by immersing it in the liquid. Please note that the cloth used for dyeing is silk, cotton, linen and wool products and will not dye cloth made of chemical fibers.

夫婦で参加させて頂きました。お弁当箱袋程度の大きさのカバン染め体験をしました。見本色を出して頂き、それに合わせて染色液を作って頂く感じです。終始和やかな雰囲気で、いろいろ教えて頂きながら楽しく体験させて頂きました。出して頂いた紅茶もおいしく、とても楽しかったです。
