"Ise Katagami" is used for dyeing kimonos. It is a traditional craft technique that has been passed down in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture for over a thousand years. ``Ise Katagami'' is made by a craftsman called a katagami, who uses a chisel to carve intricate patterns and designs onto durable Japanese paper. It is surprising that more than 900 patterns are carved into a single inch (approximately 3cm) corner using a very fine piece of material. "Yaeyama Minsa" is a textile made of cotton, plain weave, and produced in Ishigaki City and Taketomi Town. Yaeyama Minsa-ori goes through many processes to create a single piece of fabric, but just like in the past, many of these processes are done by hand with great care.
