You can enjoy the rustic Lake Saiko surrounded by birdsong, swimming fish, the Misaka mountain range and the Aokigahara Jukai forest from a slightly different perspective. There are also lodging facilities such as guesthouses and campsites scattered nearby, making it a great choice for large groups of girls and boys, as well as couples and families! You might even encounter the endangered "Kunimasu" to create memories for your children! This is a plan recommended by our instructors! The kayaks we use are stable "leisure kayaks" suitable for beginners, so you can enjoy it with peace of mind. "What is Lake Saiko?" ・Long ago, most of the huge lake was filled by lava flows from Mt. Fuji. Although it is located just west of the popular tourist destination Lake Kawaguchi, there are few tourists and artificial objects, and it is a very quiet and mysterious lake rich in nature. Facing the dynamically shaped "lava walls" and the "Aokigahara Jukai" that covers the southwest coast, the "Jukai Cruising" where you can enjoy kayaking while looking at the Jukai is popular. It is also known as the "Jukai Jungle Cruise". It is also a beautiful lake where the only "Kunimasu" live in Japan. It is no exaggeration to say that it is the lake with the most guided elements among the Fuji Five Lakes. What is the appeal of Lake Saiko? Unlike Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Yamanaka, engine boats, power boats, and sightseeing boats are prohibited, so there are no artificial waves and it is calm. It can be enjoyed safely by beginners, those with children, and those with dogs. It is a lake right next to Lake Kawaguchi, so it is easy to access from your accommodation (15 minutes by car from Kawaguchiko Station). The water is clean and the environment is very quiet. Facing the sea of trees, you can see and touch the impressive lava belt that formed the sea of trees up close. There are many campsites around the lakeside, so you can join a tour while camping. It is the only lake in Japan where "Kunimasu" live. Depending on the course and the number of participants on the day, you can see Mt. Fuji. Cruise around Lake Saiko with a guide and enjoy the fun of kayaking, as well as the nature and sights of Lake Saiko. Seasonal characteristics: Spring The cold season is over, and the water temperature is still cold, but it is a comfortable season during the day. It is the season when it is easy to see Mt. Fuji covered in snow, so we often go on Mt. Fuji observation cruises. ・Summer Lake Saiko, located at an altitude of about 900 meters, is the best summer resort! Summer is the season for swimming in the lake! You can splash each other with water guns and jump into the water from a kayak! ・Autumn The temperature gradually drops and in early November, you can go on a cruise to see the autumn leaves. The mountains around Lake Saiko are covered with broadleaf forests, and the contrast between the green of Aokigahara Jukai and the autumn leaves of the surrounding mountains is amazing. ・Winter It is a cold season, but the charm of kayaking is that you can enjoy it if you take measures against the cold. You can also see Mt. Fuji covered in snow. [Time characteristics] ・9:30am and up This is the time when the wind starts to blow a little, but the conditions are easy to paddle, making it the most popular plan. A two-day, one-night nature experience tour from July 20th to August 31st. Meet at the east exit of Chofu Station or at Fukadaiminawainosato at 8:00 a.m. (Basically scheduled to be held Monday to Tuesday or every week from Thursday to Friday) If it is a spring tide: Go to Miura Beach to search for rocks, tour the headwaters, and try bait fishing If it is not a spring tide: Go to Yamanashi Prefecture to search for rocks at Lake Motosu, lure fishing for rainbow trout, trekking in the Aokigahara Jukai forest and cave exploration Lunch In the afternoon, explore the river and forest Dinner At night, go into the forest to look for rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles. All of us will take a bath in a nearby hot spring. Camp in a camper van, and the next day, have breakfast and look for Tokyo Daruma frogs, green tree frogs, Japanese lantern frogs, Japanese rat snakes, Japanese lizards, and Japanese lizards in the forest. Lunch and look for rare creatures in the river in the afternoon. This is for reservations only for fishing rowboats and foot turbo boats. Reservations for purposes other than fishing are not accepted. For non-fishing use, reservations will be accepted on the day at the facility. Opening period Lake Aoki will open as soon as the snowfall has subsided and boats can be taken out of the boathouse. Until November snowfall. Lake Nakatsuna: April 25th to October 25th. Until April 25th, operations may be suspended without notice depending on snowfall. Lake Aoki and Lake Nakatsuna: Half-day ticket for 3-person fishing rowboat for adults/1-day ticket for 3-person fishing rowboat for adults/season ticket for 3-person fishing rowboat, Lake Aoki: Half-day ticket for 3-person fishing foot turbo boat for adults/1-day ticket for 3-person fishing foot turbo boat for adults. Adults must be 12 years old or older, and 2 children aged 1 to 11 years old must be 1 adult. Lake Aoki can be used from sunrise to 16:45 (half-day ticket is at noon). Lake Nakatsuna can be used from sunrise to 16:30 (half-day ticket is at noon). Please inform us of your start time by 17:00 the day before. A fishing permit issued by the Lake Aoki Fisheries Association is required. The 2024 rates are 1,000 yen for a one-day pass and 4,000 yen for a one-year pass (valid from April 1st to March 31st). The 2025 rates are yet to be determined.
