We will be holding a river creature exploration for parents and children, so we look forward to your participation. On the day, please gather at the meeting place, rent waders (30 sets in stock, free of charge, from 15cm to 28cm), put on gloves, turn over stones, and catch fish and crayfish. Please bring a marine scrub, as it is required from spring, the end of March to autumn and the end of October. During the cold water period from winter to spring, they do not move, so you can catch them with your bare hands. The main targets for capture are turtles, frogs, catfish, mitten crabs, striped shrimp, Yamato swamp shrimp, American crayfish, Ukigoi, Chichibu, loach, Moroko, Motsugo, Japanese river snail, Taiwanese clam, dragonfly nymph, and river insects. Many creatures live behind the stones and many hide underneath, so turn over a lot of stones to see them. It is easier to catch them in the winter observation session. The second most popular tour is the upstream tour. You can encounter beautiful aquatic creatures in the spring water upstream. This is a bicycle tour around rice fields, spring water points, and upstream. Please note that this tour is limited to electric three-seater bicycles, so only those who can ride a bicycle can participate. The targets are river crabs, loaches, crayfish, four types of dragonfly nymphs, mitten crabs, chichibu, minnows, moroko, and carp. This tour involves cycling around the spring water repeatedly. Meet at Chofu Station or Fukadai Fureai no Sato and go around 6 spots in the Nogawa River on an electric bicycle (with front and rear child seats, children's bicycles are available in various sizes). The tour lasts 2 hours. In the first half, you will fish for carp and catfish with bread. Even children can easily catch them, but the average size is about 60 cm, so you may not be able to catch them. The pull is strong, so please do your best to catch them. In the second half, if the fishing conditions are not good, you will experience searching the river in waders (free fool boots) or marine shoes. This will be an experience tour where you will use a hammer to break down fallen trees that you have captured in your local forest and your own garden to search for adult (hibernating) stag beetles and larvae.
