For calligraphy (making works with a brush), you choose your favorite characters, words, and typeface from several models such as kanji, kana, and waka. After practicing calligraphy styles and points, make a clean copy. Decorate with calligraphy glitter (*) as you like. *While drying the product developed exclusively for our atelier to decorate calligraphy, let's do the seal engraving (making a seal to engrave names and words). Our atelier is characterized by engraving on special soft rubber that can be handled easily and safely. For those who want to make a seal (stamped on the bottom left of the work), the instructor will propose a design based on your name in kanji or kana. Those who want to make a sign (stuffed on the top right of the work) will choose from several auspicious words. Do you know the "Kanji of the Year" announced every December at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto? This is a performance in which the "Kanji of the Year" character, which represents the state of the world for the year, is written large with a brush. "Taisho" means "to write large so that it is particularly noticeable." You can experience this "Taisho performance" at the popular Japanese culture experience cafe in Asakusa. There is no limit to the characters you can write. Please write your free ideas with a brush. Artistic calligrapher and contemporary artist Koji Takano will carefully guide you, so even beginners can feel at ease. Of course, you can take the completed work home with you. The performance is sure to look great on video! Let's keep a memento of the performance where you became an artist! You can face "calligraphy" by yourself and become an artist. You can create kanji art for various occasions, such as your favorite words, your child's naming book, birthdays, anniversaries, wedding messages, etc. In this experience, instead of learning the stroke order and strokes, you will relax, enrich your imagination, and stimulate your brain to create your own unique "kanji" art work. First, imagine the kanji you want to write and the scenery (picture) that inspires you. If you can't decide on an idea, creative calligrapher Koji Takano will support you. Once you have decided on an idea, use ink and paint to practice color flow and composition. Finally, write it down on a colored paper or fan for the actual performance, and your own art book will be completed. Draw calligraphy or a painting and have it turned into a traditional Japanese "kakejiku" (hanging scroll). By finishing it as a kakejiku, your work will be beautifully preserved for over 100 years and will become a lifelong memory to decorate your home. By turning your handmade work into a kakejiku, you can experience Japanese culture in depth. Our company was founded in 1936 and has been providing traditional crafts for over 80 years. By drawing calligraphy or a painting with a brush and ink, you can enjoy a unique Japanese experience. Kakejiku uses techniques with over 1000 years of history to create a work of wabi-sabi that is refined for beauty and preservation. You can choose to make a full-fledged kakejiku or a simple magnetic tapestry, and take home the work you made that day.

3 minutes walk from JR Omori Station, Tokyo①A calligraphy experience class will be held in the grounds of Omori Sanno Hie Shrine. In an ancient Japanese-style room, you can write kanji and kana using real brushes, Japanese paper, ink, and inkstones. All tools will be provided here, so please come empty-handed. You can take home the work you have written (if you wish, we will provide a frame and a seal). The instructor is a Bunka Calligraphy Higher Master and also teaches at several calligraphy classes in Tokyo. ②On the second floor of the same building, we hold lessons for the Iwama-ryu Aikido class, and if the time is right, you can also observe and experience it. In addition to physical techniques, there are also weapon techniques (using swords, canes, and daggers). ③In addition, simple tea utensils will be provided upon request, so you can experience the tea ceremony by making your own matcha. ④Nearby is Omori Shell Mound Park, where you can take a stroll and feel the Jomon period. Since it is not a famous Japanese landmark, you can quietly experience Japanese culture in a hidden sacred place that only those in the know know about.
