石川雲蝶は、幕末から明治初期かけて新潟県で活躍した彫物の名匠です。
県内の寺院などに色鮮やかで躍動感溢れる木製彫刻を数々残しました。
その力量は木彫り作品だけでなく石彫刻や絵画、寺院の設計など多種多様で、現在も県内には1,000点以上の作品が現存しています。

その作品たちを、石川雲蝶に恋して本まで出版したにいがた観光カリスマガイド、中島すいこの案内で巡ります。

ただ見て周るだけでは分からない、作品に隠れた雲蝶の遊び心やエピソードなどを聞きながら、南魚沼市、魚沼市にある寺院など３ヶ所巡ります。
