This time, to commemorate the designation as a national historic site, we will walk along an old road in the west of Annaka City, which has been a key transportation point since the days of the Tosando road. We depart from Annaka City Tourism Organization, pass through the remains of the Usui Barrier, a national historic site, and Sakamoto-juku, and enter the old Nakasendo mountain pass at curve 9 on the old National Route 18. In Sakamoto-juku, we visit the secret treasures at the Wakihonjin Nagai Family Memorial Museum, where Emperor Meiji once rested, and have lunch in the vicinity, where we can get a panoramic view of the Sakamoto-juku townscape from a place called "Nozoki" on Mt. Haneishi.
