At the lacquer workshop "Kotemari" in Maejima, Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, you can enjoy not only viewing an exhibition of lacquer works, but also experiencing making accessories using the kintsugi technique. In kintsugi, the broken parts are called "scenery", and each one has a completely different expression. Why not turn your very own "scenery", the only one in the world, into an accessory and wear it casually?

Kintsugi necklace making experience

The Kintsugi Necklace Making Experience is a program where you repair broken pieces of pottery and turn them into a necklace. Participants carefully join the pieces together to create a new design. Even beginners can participate casually, and you can take home the completed necklace as your own original accessory. It can be enjoyed in a short amount of time, so it is recommended for tourists and first-timers.
