The number one fresh tuna landing in Japan! We will guide you through the auction at Nachikatsuura Fresh Tuna Market. "What is that doing?" "How much is that tuna worth?" As you watch the auction, many questions will arise. Since it is a private tour, we will carefully answer each and every one of them. Only a local guide who lives in this town can tell you about the lives of people who make a living from tuna and various stories related to tuna. It would be a waste to just look! Please join us.
Your guide will carefully explain the auction taking place right before your eyes. This is a very unique market, even on a global scale, and it's a special experience. We'll answer questions like: - How do you judge tuna? - What kind of tuna is delicious? - How does the auction work?
You can learn about the town's activities that have been built around tuna and its connection to people's lives.
You will learn about the fishing methods that are being used to ensure the survival of Nachikatsuura's tuna industry into the future, and you will come to realise just how important sustainable choices are when you return to your everyday life.

Ask your guide all about the town! Your guide will pick you up at your accommodation. While walking with you to the market, feel free to ask us any questions you may have about delicious restaurants and recommended sightseeing spots.
Access - Map
The guide will pick you up at your accommodation at Katsuura Regional Wholesale Market (Nachi Katsuura Fresh Tuna Auction Market). We will walk together to the market. If you need to arrange a taxi, please let us know in advance. Please pay the metered fare directly to the driver on the day. (There is no reservation fee.) After the tour, you will be taken back to your accommodation or breakfast location.
