Let's have a walk through one of the oldest villages on Iriomote island, Sonai village, and its historical places including a traditional Okinawan house and a shrine. During the walk, I will introduce you to the history and religion of Iriomote island. I will share many stories about local people's way of living and worship. Iriomote is not only beautiful nature. A secret tradition is still alive that most tourists are not aware of.First, we will introduce ourselves to the gods of the island and learn about local shrines. Next, visit a traditional wooden house, and learn about its construction and the rituals held inside. location, hear its story, and learn about religious festivals. On the way, I will teach you about edible plants.
