*Reservations for 1 to 2 adults are accepted for a flat fee of 5,000 yen due to instructor fees.・It is an experience to draw a pattern on a vessel using scraping and line engraving techniques.・You can choose either a cup or a bowl. We will ask for your preference at the time of booking.・Up to 1 piece per person will be baked for free and handed over to the customer. (Up to 3 months waiting time) No shipping fee if received directly at the workshop, separate shipping fee if shipped.

[What is Kakiotoshi?]

Kakiotoshi is a technique of scraping the surface of ceramics to give different colors and patterns.

[About the hands-on workshop, Ichimushido]

Using red clay from Okinawa, I make handmade bowls one by one with a kick potter's wheel. Based on the design of "Ryukyu Kotenyaki", Okinawan pottery from Taisho to early Showa period, the creatures living in Okinawa are drawn using the scraping technique.

[About the experience venue, Yamahara Kogeiten (former Kijoka Elementary School)]

Utilizing the site of the former Kijoka Elementary School, which closed six years ago, it is a complex facility with Yanbaru craft shops, tenants such as Ichimushido, a hammock workshop, and a woodwork workshop. Events such as screenings and fairs are also held. Accommodation is scheduled to open in the fall.
