Plan description

While touching the mechanism and history of thatched roof, you can experience it safely with the roof actually built on the ground. It's an experience in a place with a roof, so it's OK even in the rain. Even children can experience it. You will fully experience the work of a thatched roof craftsman in 2 hours, which is tightly condensed. At the end of the experience, you will be given a commemorative photo and a certificate of completion of the experience. This is an experience where you can feel the thatched roof that you saw as a landscape of a satoyama. Why don't you experience the traditional technique of thatched-roof craftsmen who have been designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage as a memory of your stay?

You can actually experience thatched roofing!

You will be asked to use straw materials and roof with the tools actually used by craftsmen. You can get a sense of accomplishment of roofing as if you were a craftsman. You can have a fun experience while experiencing the division of roles that you actually do when roofing. The craftsman's mood is at its peak with the final experience end certificate and commemorative photo.

Time schedule

～ Flow of the day ～ ① Meet at Miyama FUTON & Breakfast check-in center. Guidance on the flow of the experience while watching the video. (Approximately 15 minutes) ② Instructor introduction. After introducing the thatched roof and observing the structure, we moved to the experience place. (Approximately 15 minutes) ③ Experience roofing with a specially assembled experience roofing set. (Approximately 60 minutes) ④ After a break and quiz time, take a commemorative photo and hand over the certificate of completion. (About 30 minutes)
