Nordic walking involves walking with special poles in both hands. It is a fitness sport that is said to be effective for rehabilitation and weight loss because it is a full-body exercise that puts less strain on the knees. The walking course is within Noshiro City, but the course changes on each day, and the course includes the city's erosion control forest "Kaze no Matsubara" (a pine forest with a total length of 14 km from north to south), Noshiro Park, and Noshiro's "town center".
