"GEISHA BOY" is a geisha transformation experience plan supervised by Takafuji Ukon, the second generation of Takafuji School of Creative Japanese Dance, who is also active on the world stage as a female impersonator. Members of Asakusa Ukonya, a professional dance group led by Ukon, will transform you into a wonderful female impersonator. In addition to authentic costumes, we will help you create your own work, from the initial meeting to the photo shoot in a private space that requires a reservation. Of course, anyone can enjoy it regardless of gender or nationality! *Due to the relocation of our store, we are currently not accepting reservations. Learn how to greet, walk, and behave from the head of the Shinkawa School of Japanese dance. Shinkawa School has a wide variety of dances, from classical Japanese dance to Kabuki dance and Bon Odori. Headmaster Shinkawa Ogio will provide careful instruction so that everyone from children and students to the elderly can enjoy the experience. Yukata rentals are available, so please change into one first. We will teach you how to tie an obi and how to wear a beautiful yukata. If you come to the store in Japanese clothing, you can participate in the event in your favorite clothes. We also have yukatas for men and children, so families are welcome to participate! We will practice the ancient Japanese popular song "Sakura Sakura" in the Shinkawa School style. After practice, all participants will dance through the whole song at the end. Enjoy dancing Japanese dance with your heart and discover a new you!

The first stop is a taiko drum workshop, located just a short walk down an Asakusa alley. Amid the scent of wood and the sound of taut leather, you'll get a close-up look at craftsmen putting their soul into each and every strike of a taiko drum. This is a precious opportunity to experience firsthand the power and beauty of handed-down craftsmanship. Next, you'll experience authentic Japanese cuisine using seasonal ingredients. While savoring the chef's meticulous craftsmanship and the colors of the seasons with all five senses, you'll experience the Japanese spirit of hospitality and the aesthetics of food. After the meal, enjoy a special performance of Japanese dance by Tachibana Sumizo, head of the Tachibana school. After changing into a kimono, you will learn firsthand how to use a fan and the movements of a sword fight under the guidance of Master Sumizo. Let's wear a yukata and experience authentic Japanese traditional dance in Asakusa, a district of Tokyo which is the hub of arts! Yoko Namishima - a teacher with over 30 years of experience gives instructions with joy and great attention to each learner. In case of 2 or more participants, she performs a nihonbuyo-dance after the lesson! We are delighted to have everyone from beginners to even those who find hard to wear yukata! Feel free to join us! 【Namishima Yoko Nihon Buyo Class】 ・You can learn about the spirit of harmony and hospitality through the nihonbuyo-dance. ・By easy-to-understand instructions you can learn dancing with an easy mind. ・Lesson held in a perfect environment: a 3-minute walk from the main station and Asakusa district which is the hub of arts. ・Professional instructions are provided by Namishima teacher from traditional and contemporary dances to yukata dressing. Japanese traditional dance "nihon-buyo" is a part of "kabuki" called "shosa-mono" which means movement. Yoko Namishima left Nihon-buyo school and created her own stage performance, and became a representative of「Shin-buyo」which is a new style of dancing. Her concept is to promote the Japanese spirit of harmony and hospitality through the dance and she is involved as an instructor of dancing, sword battling and kimono dressing in performances held all over the country and across the world .
