Mysterious Lake MashuThis is a course where you can see Lake Mashu, Mt. Iou, and Lake Kussharo. Mysterious Lake Mashu is worth a visit. Only Mashu No. 1 Observation Deck is available during the winter. On the way to Lake Mashu, you can also get a feel for the vastness of Hokkaido at Tawadaira, where you can see the horizon in a large panorama. You can eat Genghis Khan at Tawadaira. You can see many red-crowned cranes in eastern Hokkaido around Kushiro, and here you can see the red-crowned cranes vs. food thieves, which you can't see at other feeding sites. Due to bird flu measures, you can no longer see Steller's sea eagles and white-tailed eagles as much as before, but you can see Ezo deer, swans, white-tailed eagles, etc. trying to steal the food from the red-crowned cranes. When they were feeding the cranes with raw fish, this was the only place in the world where you could see the red-crowned cranes vs. eagles fighting over food. (Only during feeding time) There is an admission fee to the Akan International Crane Center (480 yen for adults). I hope that one day I will be able to see the same scene again. Please contact us for details, such as combinations with the Kushiro Station ⇒ Akan International Crane Center ⇒ Kushiro City Tsurui Course.

As the name of the place suggests, Tsurui Village is the best place to see cranes. You can see cranes in a variety of places, such as cranes landing on pure white snow fields, cranes flying in blue skies, and cranes in the river. Kushiro has many sunny days in the winter, so you can take better photos. In the evening, you can also see the cranes, dyed in the setting sun, flying in formation to their roosts. View the Kushiro Marsh from the eastern (western) observation deck, then walk along an unpaved road to the western (eastern) observation deck. If you are confident in your time and stamina, there are also some places you can walk (or climb?) to see, such as the Kottaro Marsh Observation Deck, Sarubo Observation Deck, and Yumegaoka Observation Deck. Along the way, you might encounter red-crowned cranes, Ezo deer, or Ezo red foxes (which appear irregularly).

There is also a course that combines the Norokko train ride, where you can ride one way through the marsh from Kushiro city to Hosooka Observatory to Kushiro city, and then take a taxi back to see the Kushiro Marsh from a different angle.

A seasonal feature of winter in Hokkaido! Enjoy ice fishing on a frozen lake (ice smelt fishing). Located 10 minutes from Memanbetsu Airport, the gateway to the skies of Okhotsk, Lake Memanbetsu is a place where you can enjoy smelt fishing every year by drilling a hole in the frozen lake surface. Our professional outdoor guides will take you to the fishing spot while taking you to and from the hotel or airport. This is the most popular winter activity, as you can eat the smelt you catch as tempura on the spot. We will provide you with the equipment, so you can participate empty-handed! ♪ A guide will accompany you, so even first-time fishers can feel at ease. 1. Smelt fishing experience: Experience the thrilling and fun ice smelt fishing that is unique to Hokkaido in winter. You can drill a hole in the ice and feel a sense of accomplishment in catching the fish yourself. Of course, since you are dealing with nature, there may be few hits. 2. Support for beginners: The guide will provide friendly support so that even beginners can participate with confidence. They will carefully teach you how to use the equipment and how to attach bait. 3. Drilling holes using an ice drill: This experience includes drilling holes in the ice yourself using an ice drill, so you can actively participate even in the cold. 4. Lake Abashiri is one of the most famous places in Japan as a sacred place for smelt fishing, and anglers come from all over the country. We will guide you to Lake Abashiri, one of Hokkaido's leading smelt fishing spots. You can enjoy fishing on the lake, catch as many as you want to eat, and enjoy the fresh smelt as freshly fried tempura. 5. Peace of mind in a warm tent: A tent is set up to protect you from the cold, and the freshly caught smelt is fried on the spot and made into tempura. We offer a special time in a warm tent with fresh flavors.

In winter, Shiretoko's famous waterfall, Furepe Falls, turns into blue icicles, and the spray of the falls, blown by the north wind, creates a mysterious shape. Behind Furepe Falls, the silvery Shiretoko mountain range stands, and during the drift ice season from late January to early March, a majestic drift ice field spreads out below. To reach Furepe Falls, you will put on snowshoes (Western snow shoes) and walk freely through the forest, searching for forest creatures and their traces. Places that are difficult to access from spring to autumn become walkable thanks to snow and snowshoes, so this tour is characterized by many new discoveries. Enjoy the spectacular scenery that is typical of Shiretoko and the snowshoeing experience together. *Due to the lack of sufficient snowfall from early to late December and late March, there is a high possibility that you will be guided in boots instead of snowshoes. In that case, we will guide you to the "Furepe Falls Nature Walk" tour in the same area during the snow-free season (adults: 3,100 yen, children: 2,000 yen). Thank you for your understanding.

Summer in Hokkaido is something that everyone wants to visit at least once. We will guide you through "Okhotsk", which is rich in nature even in Hokkaido, for a leisurely day. The theme of the Shiretoko area is "to fully enjoy nature". In the morning, a guided walk around the Shiretoko Goko Lakes takes you through the representative fields of Shiretoko. We will pick you up at a restaurant in Utoro for lunch. The remaining half day is trekking in the primeval forest. We will take you to a place with a superb view of cliffs and waterfalls by walking along the animal trail. You can immerse yourself in the charm of the world natural heritage Shiretoko through encounters with wild animals and dynamic scenery. *If the Shiretoko Five Lakes are closed due to brown bear appearances, snowfall, etc., there may be cases where the morning and afternoon tours are replaced, another course is offered, and the tour ends in half a day (in that case, a refund will be given). Please forgive me in advance. ◆This facility is registered as a nationwide travel support store that handles regional coupons. "Regional Coupons" can only be used for local payments.
We are a group of 5 pax and we had a great walk with Kanako san as our guide. We saw bear claws mark on the tree, bear paws print, deer skull and things we would have miss if we were to walk on our own. A deer suddenly ran towards us and stayed with us during our walk and Kanako San told us it not a good sign as the deer might have been spooked by a bear. It was a beautiful and exciting walk for us. Highly recommend Kanako san for your guided walk.
