You can see many red-crowned cranes in eastern Hokkaido around Kushiro, and here you can see the red-crowned cranes vs. food thieves, which you can't see at other feeding sites. Due to bird flu measures, you can no longer see Steller's sea eagles and white-tailed eagles as much as before, but you can see Ezo deer, swans, white-tailed eagles, etc. trying to steal the food from the red-crowned cranes. When they were feeding the cranes with raw fish, this was the only place in the world where you could see the red-crowned cranes vs. eagles fighting over food. From Hosooka Observatory (east side), you can see the Kushiro Marsh and the meandering Kushiro River in the Kushiro Marsh, the 28th national park and the largest naturally rich low-lying marsh in Japan with a horizontal spread. This is the most downstream course starting from Hosooka Canoe Port and going down to Iwahogi Floodgate. This area retains the original appearance of the marshland with few trees and many open landscapes. The meandering of the Kushiro River is also the most frequent course. Of course, the guide will ride with you, so please leave the operation of the canoe to us.
