Enjoy successive Isokichi works with luxurious commentary! Ikichi Fukaka Pottery Kiln is located in Yawata, where kilns for making figurines are concentrated. It has roots that the first generation was a pottery specializing in ceramics, and even now, we are doing everything from creating the ceramics to painting. This program is a studio tour in which Ms. Ikika Asakura, the daughter of Mr. Isokichi Asakura, the fourth generation, explains the studio, gallery, and works. The reason why requests from world brands come in... Kokura Orimono's strength lies in jacquard silk fabrics. An industrial jacquard loom has 14,200 warp (vertical) threads, with weft (horizontal) threads moving back and forth between them. There is slight unevenness in thickness. The craftsman adjusts them while threading, and operates the loom while keeping an eye on it to ensure that it runs smoothly. Today, there are almost no highly specialized craftsmen even within the production area, which is one of the reasons why Kokura Textile receives requests from world-famous brands. Experience matcha green tea with Kutani ware in a tatami room in a townhouse full of culture. The current owner, Mr. Yukio Uchida, takes over the pottery shop in his parents' house, and he himself creates works by overglaze painting as a Kutani ware artist. In addition to being able to see and purchase Kutani ware at the shop on the 1st floor, the atelier on the 2nd floor of the machiya-style pottery shop is open to the public, allowing visitors to see Mr. Uchida painting. We also serve matcha green tea in Kutani tea bowls made by the artist. Come and experience the world of Kutani ware, which flourished in an elegant culture.
