Want to experience a deeper side of Japan? In this city where foreigners are rarely seen, this calligraphy activity, open to the public for the first time, allows you to meet a master calligrapher. ● Artist Madara's stylish and artistic "brush calligraphy" is a calligraphy experience that touches on the history and culture of calligraphy. The first half of the activity will cover the history of calligraphy and include a calligraphy class. In the second half, Madara, Japan's only brush calligrapher who practices the art of "brush calligraphy," which brings happiness, will convert your name into kanji and create a scroll with calligraphy. Furthermore, Madara is also a colorful Japanese ink wash artist, so you can create a one-of-a-kind tote bag, T-shirt, or tenugui (hand towel) design that combines your kanji name with MADARA's illustration. Enjoy Japanese sweets and matcha tea during the workshop, so there's no need to be nervous. Beginners are also welcome! ● Content: This activity consists of two parts: Part 1 is 50 minutes, with a 10-minute break. Part 2 is 60 minutes. ● About the venue: Crafort Madara Atelier, Inc. This is a calligraphy experience event in the ancient city of Kamakura. For inbound visitors and domestic tourists, why not spend a special day to clear your mind through calligraphy, a traditional Japanese culture? We will carefully explain Japanese traditional culture and teach you everything from how to hold the brush to basic writing techniques. At the end, we will support you so that you can write your favorite characters. Please take home your finished work as it is. As an option, you can also write on a fan or a hanging scroll, which you can enjoy as interior decoration in your room. Let's enjoy calligraphy together!
