Please join us on this experiential tour where you can experience calligraphy, create your own work, and even get professional work. The venue will be a rental conference room near Higashi Ginza Station.
We were 3 couples wanting to get real experiences about Japan, and I think this would also be great for families. This calligraphy class was superbly designed and delivered and we all felt it had been a 5-Star experience! All materials were provided and the location was easy to find and an excellent environment to try this activity. Our three guides were so friendly and helpful it made a lovely environment in which to experiment and produce our work.

*The campaign with Japanese sweets and drinks will end on April 30, 2024. Do you know the "Kanji of the Year" announced every December at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto? This is a performance in which the "Kanji of the Year" character, which represents the state of the world for the year, is written large with a brush. "Taisho" means "to write large so that it is particularly noticeable." You can experience this large calligraphy performance at the popular Japanese culture experience cafe in Asakusa. There is no limit to the characters you can write. Please write your free ideas with a brush. Creative calligrapher Koji Takano will carefully teach you, so even beginners can feel at ease. Of course, you can take the finished work home with you. You can face "calligraphy" by yourself and become an artist. You can also deepen your friendship with your family or friends. Why not experience a one-of-a-kind calligraphy performance in Asakusa?

I experienced calligraphy with a friend from Italy. She seems to be running out of major tourist spots such as temples, but she enjoyed the calligraphy experience and l was glad to chose it. The teacher, Kayo, teaches us in plain English. The content was enjoyable for both foreigners and Japanese. The food of Kayo’s husband was also very delicious. It was fun to talk with they and they told us the recommended spots in the area and kindly responded. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Have you ever seen a huge calligraphy performance? Opportunities to experience calligraphy performance are limited, and it is something everyone should experience at least once in their life. Calligraphy performance is more than just writing, it is an art that reflects your heart. You can also relieve your daily fatigue and stress and have a dynamic and powerful experience. In this calligraphy performance experience, you will be able to write on one full sheet of paper (69cm x 136cm) and two pieces of paper cut in half (34.5cm x 136cm). You can take home your finished work. At the end of the experience, please add your name to the giant calligraphy work that I created, measuring approximately 2.5m x 5m. Experience location: The event will be held at a former Japanese confectionery store in Sadogashima, Niigata Prefecture. You can reach us by car or bus, and the bus stop is a 5-minute walk away. There is also free parking, which can be reached in just 30 seconds on foot. Language: You can choose from Japanese or English. Note: If the experience is for about 4 people, it will take about 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes. We can accommodate groups of 10 or more, but it may take longer than planned, so if you have a large group, please contact us in advance. Also, since you will be using ink in the experience, please come in clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. The experience includes: 1. Introduction 2. Demonstration 3. Practice 4. Add your name to the giant calligraphy I wrote 5. Certificate 6. Matcha time, Q&A, photo shoot, etc.

Each kanji character has a meaning, and the appearance of the font is considered beautiful, so ``kanji'' themselves are very popular among foreigners, who often wear T-shirts with large kanji prints on them. Many of you may have seen foreigners with Chinese characters or kanji tattoos on their bodies. The customer chooses such a kanji, and we will explain the calligraphy mindset, tools, and movements, so that they can deeply understand ``Hinomoto Calligraphy'' and write down the kanji they have chosen with a brush.

The calligraphy of death is something that a samurai writes down with a brush as his last words in this world when he foresees his death. (Death refers to leaving this world) Customers can write their favorite kanji. You can select a character (kanji) and write it with an extra-large brush on SAMURAI paper (16 times the size of normal hanshi), which is made by combining two sheets of hanshi paper that is 8 times the size of normal hanshi paper. (Example) Yukimura Sanada's death note, ``If you go to live in an indefinite floating world, you will not know what will happen one day later.'' (In such an unstable world, we do not know what will happen tomorrow. Please think of Naniwa as something that doesn't exist in this world.'' Toyotomi Hideyoshi's deathbed writings, ``The dew falls, the dew falls and disappears.'' I wonder if Naniwa is also a dream within a dream (I became a citizen, but the dew fell and disappeared.) It was a life that seemed to disappear.)

This is an experiential calligraphy class for foreign tourists visiting Japan, business travelers, or foreigners living in Japan. Write kanji with a brush while calming your mind in a Japanese-style room in a Japanese-style private house. We have prepared approximately 30 kanji characters that are popular among foreigners, such as love, dream, mother, father, friend, and flower. If you have any requests for kanji that you would like to write, please let us know in advance and we will prepare a model for you! We receive many requests to write their name in kanji, so please let us know in advance the name you would like to write (only one person) and we will prepare a sample! You can use the name of a family member (only one name) instead of your own! In this hands-on class, you will polish the ink you use by yourself. You can see for yourself that the color of the ink gradually becomes darker. In addition, the tools used in calligraphy, such as brushes, paper, inkstones, and ink, are explained in an easy-to-understand manner using panels with photos. The lesson begins and ends with a seated prayer. We will also explain the etiquette of the zarei in an easy-to-understand manner! Start with basic writing techniques such as vertical lines and horizontal lines, practice the selected kanji on paper, and finally write them on the fan. You can take the fan home with you, so it also makes a great souvenir!

You can experience calligraphy, a traditional Japanese culture, using real tools. Unlike the calligraphy sets you can buy at shopping malls or schools, we use calligraphy tools procured from traditional calligraphy shops, so it's perfect for those who want to get a taste of the real thing and Japanese culture. This plan is available in Japanese, English, Spanish, and Italian. Most calligraphy experiences take 60 to 90 minutes, but the JanDara calligraphy experience takes 180 minutes. You can communicate well with other calligraphers. Approximately 10 minutes from anywhere from Haneda Airport, Shinagawa, or Yokohama! We will rent Ota Sangyo Plaza PiO, which is a 3-minute walk from the station. This is a spacious 40 tatami Japanese-style room that can accommodate up to 54 people, where you can sit in a sitting position or sit on a horigotatsu (horizontal kotatsu) and do calligraphy with your feet down. If you are not comfortable sitting up straight, you can stretch your legs and participate in a relaxed state. For those who would like to experience the numbness of their legs while sitting seiza like an authentic Japanese person, we will prepare them so that they can experience it sitting seiza. When deciding which characters to write on colored paper, teach them the Japanese meaning. Creating Japanese names together will be a lot of fun! At the end of the experience, you will eat Japanese sweets. You can take the completed work home with you. Not only that, you can scan your work and hand it over as data, so you can post it on SNS, make a record, make an announcement, or create materials. You can also make original T-shirts and mugs in your own country since the data will remain in your possession!

Unlike the calligraphy sets you can buy at shopping malls or schools, we use calligraphy tools procured from traditional calligraphy shops, so it's perfect for those who want to get a taste of the real thing and Japanese culture. This plan will be conducted in Japanese. This is for international students to improve their Japanese and to have more communication with their host families and companions who understand Japanese. (You can bring up to 4 companions with each application for free.) Most calligraphy experiences usually take 60 to 90 minutes, but the JanDara calligraphy experience takes 120 minutes. You can enjoy the experience and communicate with Japanese people, not just "written with a brush". We will rent Ota Sangyo Plaza PiO, which is about 10 minutes from Haneda Airport, Shinagawa, and Yokohama, and a 3-minute walk from the station. This is a spacious 40 tatami Japanese-style room that can accommodate up to 54 people, where you can sit in a sitting position or sit on a horigotatsu (horizontal kotatsu) and do calligraphy with your feet down. It is quite difficult to enjoy this atmosphere at home or school. When deciding on the characters to write on the colored paper, it's a great way to make a Japanese name together while teaching the meaning of the Japanese word! At the end of the experience, you will eat Japanese sweets. You can take the completed work home with you. Not only that, you can scan your work and hand it over as data, so you can post it on SNS, make a record, make an announcement, or create materials. Create a warm, original calligraphy piece that is one of a kind in the world. In this experience, you will not learn the stroke order or the strokes, but rather enrich your imagination and stimulate your brain to create your own unique "kanji" art piece. First, think of the kanji you want to write and the scenery (picture) that inspires you. If you can't decide on an idea, you can refer to the collection of ideas by creative calligrapher Koji Takano. Once you have decided on an idea, use ink and paint to practice brush strokes and composition. Finally, write it down on a colored paper or fan for the actual performance, and your masterpiece will be completed. ★ COOL HIROSHIMA ★ Japanese calligraphy is an artistic form of writing with a brush and ink to express your mind. As a traditional visual art, people look at the calligraphy and appreciate the beauty and impressions of characters and their meanings. Unlike paintings or other writings, you have only one chance to write with a brush. The brush strokes cannot be corrected or even rewritten. Usually, you need to sit straight on the floor and focus on calligraphy, but in this plan we provide tables and chairs for overseas visitors as they may find it difficult to sit on the floor. Our school is located in central Hiroshima and easy to access, come stop by on your visit to this area if time permits between your sightseeing programs. As a memory of your Hiroshima trip, join our special Japanese calligraphy experience offered by a professional instructor. ※English speaking guide is available. ※ Gift brush and plain folding fan included.

Experience copying sutras and Buddha at Darumaji Temple, which began with the encounter between Prince Shotoku and Bodhidharma Daishi! Darumaji is the birthplace of Daruma. It is a temple with a stone statue of Prince Shotoku's dog "Yukimaru". Head to the place of the penmanship, the main hall or Hojo (depending on the experience date and number of people). In the main hall, the wooden statue of Seitoku Taishi (nationally designated important cultural property), the wooden statue of Tatsuma (nationally designated important cultural property), and the wooden statue of Senju Kannon (designated by Oji Town) are enshrined. Select one of the four types of sutra-copying sheets and Buddhist-copying sheets "Yukimaru, Senju Kannon Gosokage, Bodhidharma Ambassador Gosokage, Prince Shotoku Regent Gosokage" lined up on the desk. Let's calm down and copy with the fulfillment of our wishes. After writing, the Buddha will be stamped with a temple stamp and dedicated. Even if you take it home and copy it!
