Plan description

This is a Japanese craft experience at Marugataya Ryokan in Tako Town, Katori District, Chiba Prefecture, where you can create one-of-a-kind miscellaneous goods and accessories. You can use tsumami zaiku to create gorgeous ornaments and accessories, or transform kimono obi sashes into new forms such as tapestries and table centers. Even first-time participants can rest assured, as our staff will provide thorough support. You can take your finished creation home as a souvenir. ~Experience Schedule~ 13:20 Meet at Marugataya Ryokan. 13:30 Experience begins. Your Japanese craft experience will begin. 15:30 Experience Ends and Disbands After the experience ends, you will be disbanded at Marugataya Ryokan, the venue.

Making accessories using tsumami zaiku

Tsumami-zaiku is a traditional Japanese craft technique that has been developed mainly in Kyoto and Tokyo since the Edo period. Traditionally, tsumami-zaiku has been used to make hair ornaments such as hairpins. In this experience, you can make interior goods and accessories using pre-prepared tsumami-zaiku.

Obi craft experience

You can reuse kimono obi (sashes) and turn them into tapestries, table centers, and other items. You can take home your own original items made with beautifully patterned and colorful obi as souvenirs.
