Iwami Ginzan flourished as Japan's largest silver mine from the late Sengoku period to the early Edo period. The town of Omori was developed as the administrative and commercial center of Iwami Ginzan. Here you will find cute cafes, sweets shops, miscellaneous goods stores, and more.
The Kumagai Family Residence is a traditional Japanese house built over 220 years ago. The lifestyle of the past echoes to this day, passed down through experiences such as changing the fittings and furniture in the house to make it more comfortable during the harsh summers and winters , and learning how to actually make food using the stove in the house. Come back each season and experience the beauty and fun of Japanese architecture.

Tour the Kumagai Family Residence, a National Important Cultural Property The Kumagai family once prospered as an influential merchant family at Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine, building this residence over 220 years ago. Its decoration suits each season, allowing you to experience the beauty and joy of Japanese architecture.
Enjoy furoshiki experience while being taught by an instructor The furoshiki used in the experience is handmade by our staff.Choose your favorite pattern from a variety of wrapping cloths and learn to turn a single piece of cloth into a bag without cutting or sewing. Cloth can also be useful when you have extra travel luggage or when packing a change of clothes for a hot spring. The instructor will demonstrate the various ways to use furoshiki. In this experience, you will feel the traditional wisdom of ancient Japanese life.

・7 minutes by car from Sanin Expressway Nima/Iwami Ginzan IC・30 minutes by car from Oda city center・To get to the parking lot in the Iwami Ginzan (Omori) area, please use the Iwami Ginzan World Heritage Center and then take the route bus.
From JR Izumo-shi Station to JR Oda-shi Station, it takes about 25 minutes by limited express train, or about 40 minutes by local train.After getting off at JR Oda-shi Station, take the Iwami Kotsu bus to the bus stop “Omori Daikansho Ato”.
・The Kumagai Family Residence is a 5-minute walk from Daikansho-mae Hiroba and the nearest bus stop, Omori Daikansho Ato.From Iwami Ginzan Park(nearest bus stop: Omori), it is 800 meters away and takes 25 minutes on foot.
