Profile of Koji Kinutani
Born in Nara Prefecture in 1943, he became familiar with the historical environment from an early age and cultivated a rich artistic sensibility.
Enrolled in the Department of Oil Painting at Tokyo University of the Arts.
Studied at the Academy of Venice. Since then, he has mastered the modern expression of classical fresco techniques and created a world of vivid images.
After returning to Japan, he won numerous art awards for his unique style and energetic production. He has been leading the Japanese art world for over 40 years.
In addition to teaching young artists at Tokyo University of the Arts and Osaka University of Arts, he established the Koji Kinutani Award to support young artists.
He is also involved in the "Children's Dream Art Academy" sponsored by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and conveys the joy and fun of creation to the young people who will lead the next generation.
A member of the Japan Art Academy. 2014 Person of Cultural Merit Award. Received the 2015 Japan Broadcasting Corporation Broadcast Culture Award. Received the Order of Culture in 2021.
