The "Hitome Senbonzakura" cherry blossoms bloom along the banks of the Shiroishi River, which runs through the center of Ogawara Town and Shibata Town in Shibata County, Miyagi Prefecture, for 8km. The approximately 1,200 cherry tree saplings donated by Kaijiro Takayama in 1923 and 1927 still fascinate us after about 100 years. During the flowering season, the snow-capped Zao mountain range and the rows of cherry trees in full bloom are reflected in the Shiroishi River, creating an exquisite harmony, making this a place that is one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots. This is a pleasure-boat with an observation deck "Moriyoshimaru", travels between Taihei Lake and Komata Gorge. You can enjoy both the sightseeing boat of lake and an exploring around the unexplored nature! Taihei Lake is an artificial lake which was made according to the completion of 30km Moriyoshi Dam. It is crowded with the explorers of valley views and anglers during the season. It only takes about 15 minutes boat ride to arrive at Komata Gorge Pier. There is a 1.8km long promenade in Komata Gorge where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and nature of seasons. From the fresh green in spring to the deep green in summer, Komata Gorge fascinates people with its refreshing scenery worthy of the name of “hidden world”. Furthermore, the autumn leaves of Okumoriyoshi are so colorful that can be described as "embroidery". The incredibly beautiful unexplored world only can be created by God is waving to you, and takes to the another world. The winery "Pino Collina Matsukaoka" will open in 2020 in Matsukaoka. Fresh Japanese wine made from 100% grapes grown in Matsugaoka has won numerous awards including IWC, and has been selected for the G7 Hiroshima Summit. A special performance by Nakamura Hashigo, a kabuki actor from Tsuruoka, will be held in the illuminated 5th silkworm room of the Matsukeoka Kaikonjo(Matsugaoka Reclamation Site). Snow is fun! Experience making a mini snow igloo with Yokote's high-quality snow! Anyone can participate, including families with children and those who want to experience snow. Snow igloos are a seasonal feature of winter in Akita Prefecture. In Yokote, the "Yokote Snow Festival" is held every year on February 15th and 16th as a New Year's event to worship the water god, with a history of about 450 years. It is famous for the construction of about 80 snow igloos, each about 3 meters tall, throughout the city. In addition, about 2,000 "mini snow igloos" are made by local people and children every year at the venues of Yokote Minami Elementary School and Hebi no Sakigawahara, and candles are lit inside at night. Let's make an original mini snow igloo, one of a kind in the world, using the snow of Yokote, the home of snow igloos and a heavy snowfall area. After making the mini snow igloo, take a break with a hot drink. Candles will be lit in the mini snow igloo you made in the evening.
