The opening of the winter smelt hole fishing at Lake Nakatsuna depends on the weather and smelt resources. It was not opened in 2024 and 2023. It was opened in 2022, but not in 2021. This area is a cold region with a lot of snow. When there is a lot of snow, the snow acts as a cold protection and true ice does not form. Snow and ice form, but they cannot support the weight of a human. The hours for hole fishing at Lake Nakatsuna are 7:00-16:00 (2025 is undecided). We accept hole fishing by request reservation from February 5th to February 16th, 2025, but please note that hole fishing may not be possible.
