Asukayama, where Shibusawa Eiichi spent his final years, is a famous cherry blossom spot planted by the 8th Tokugawa Shogun, Yoshimune, for the enjoyment of the common people. Additionally, Otonashi Waterfront Park, where you can enjoy the cherry blossoms at night, has long been a popular recreational spot, offering spectacular seasonal views of cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. First, take in the pink Asukayama scenery from the observation deck on the 17th floor of Hoku-Topia! Next, stroll along the quiet banks of the Otonashi River, reminiscent of the Edo period, to the historic Oji Shrine, one of Tokyo's top 10 shrines. After your visit, visit the Red Brick Sake Brewery (formerly the Brewing Research Institute), which is usually closed to the public. It was also the site of the National New Sake Tasting Competition, which has now been relocated to Hiroshima Prefecture.
