The ruins of Shichi Castle are said to have once been the castle of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's military strategist Kuroda Kanbei and Kato Yoshiaki, one of the Seven Spears of Shizugatake. The representative of the "Society for Preserving Shichi Castle," which is dedicated to preserving the castle every day, will guide you through this precious historic site, which was an important base for the Awaji Navy under Hideyoshi. Located in Shichi, Minami Awaji City, near the Seto Inland Sea and the Naruto Strait, Shichi Castle is said to have been built by Suga Izuminokami Michitada during the Kamakura period, and was surrendered in 1581 when Toyotomi Hideyoshi attacked Awaji. After that, it was guarded by his vassal Kuroda Kanbei (Kuroda Yoshitaka), and from 1585, Kato Yoshiaki, one of the Seven Spears of Shizugatake, became the lord of the castle. The Awaji Navy, which had Shichi Castle as one of its bases, achieved great success in Hideyoshi's conquests of Kyushu, Odawara, and Korea, and there is no doubt that Awaji Island and Shichi Castle were important naval bases for Hideyoshi. However, the valuable historical site where Kuroda Kanbei and Kato Yoshiaki once lived has been swallowed up by bamboo forests in recent years and is on the verge of being forgotten by local residents. At that time, the local volunteers "Shichi Castle Preservation Society" stood up, worried that the valuable remains would disappear if things continued like this. In order to let many people, not just the locals, know about the Shichi Castle ruins and to pass on the story to future generations, they have been clearing the bamboo forest every day for about five years, and have been carrying out maintenance activities such as installing entrance roads and signs. This is a tour of the Shichi Castle ruins guided by Mr. Sekiguchi, the representative of the "Shichi Castle Preservation Society" who has a stronger passion for Shichi Castle than anyone else! The Shichi Castle ruins are currently being maintained, and recently wells and stones that are thought to be old stupas from that time have been discovered one after another. We will provide electric bicycles. You can easily run on hills and long distances. Experienced guides will take you through the back roads and unknown history unique to cycling. ~Experience flow~ ①Meeting and reception Pick up an electric bicycle at E-Charity Naha Kokusai Street main store, and have a simple briefing session where anyone can ride it safely and happily! ②Tour start/Load your bicycle from Tomari Port. After setting sail, Yaeyama's famous rice balls are prepared on board. Enjoy delicious food while being rocked by the boat. ③ When you get off the Zamami village Aka boat, you will be greeted by the bronze statue of the brave dog that was featured in the movie. Ride your bicycle up the mountain and arrive at the observation deck. You can see the unique topography of the rocks and the crystal clear sea that is famous as a diving spot. Cross the 240m bridge connecting it to the neighboring island. From the top of the bridge, you can see the port you arrived at and the endless Kerama Blue sea. A pure white beach will appear at the end of the path while feeling the greenery of the trees and the breeze. Get off your bike and relax while feeling the sea and sky. From the observation deck at the top of the hill, you can get a panoramic view of the ocean area surrounded by the three islands of Kerama. On the way back, enjoy a long-established confectionery from Naha while chatting and showing each other photos you took on the island. ④After receiving the bicycle, we head back home through the back roads unique to bicycles. ⑤ Return the bicycle and the tour will end. This is a day tour that walks around Tadanoumi, Takehara City. Tadanoumi is closely related to the name of Taira no Tadamori (the father of Taira no Kiyomori). After climbing Mt. Kurotaki with a guide and seeing the beauty of the many islands in the Seto Inland Sea like a diorama, you can enjoy seafood rice bowls topped with plenty of fresh fish. In the winter of 1180 (Jisho 4) at the end of the Heian period, at Takanawa Castle, located in the middle of the Seto Inland Sea, which was the sphere of influence of the Taira clan, Kono Michikiyo responded to Yoritomo and raised an army against the Taira clan. Due to his meritorious communication in the Genpei War, he established a sphere of influence in almost all of eastern Nakayo, Iyo Province, centered on Kono District, Kazahaya County. However, in the Jokyu Incident of 1221 (Jokyu 3), many of the Kono clan sided with the retired Emperor Gotoba and marched to Yamashiro Province, but were defeated, most of their territories were confiscated, and they were in a desperate situation. It was Michiari who got the family back on its feet. He challenged the Mongol invasion, fought bravely by charging into enemy ships in Hakata Bay, and recovered his former territory. He is said to be the "founder of the Kono clan's revival."
