Owakudani is located southeast of Mount Fuji in Hakone City and is a famous tourist spot in Hakone. Owakudani, a popular Japanese tourist destination, is the remains of a crater formed by a large eruption that occurred on the northern slope of Mount Kamiyama approximately 4,000 years ago during the final stages of Hakone volcanic activity. Most of Owakudani's spring water is toxic, so it is also known as "Great Hell." It wasn't until Emperor Meiji visited in 1876 that the name was changed to Owakudani. You can sample Owakudani's specialty, black eggs, at your own expense. ▼ Lake Yamanaka Shiratori Beach - Take a photo of a swan and Mt. Fuji in the same frame, creating a truly lifelike image. Lake Yamanaka, one of the Fuji Five Lakes, has a lakeside area known as "Shiratorihama" due to its large population of swans. This is a great place for bird watching and for taking photos of swans with Mt. Fuji in the background. The swans here are very friendly, as they are often fed by tourists. ▼ Oshino Hakkai: Oshino Hakkai is the collective name for eight pure springs formed when meltwater from Mt. Fuji flows through the earth's layers and filters. Oshino Hakkai is renowned for its beautiful natural environment. The sparkling waters of the ponds blend beautifully with Mt. Fuji, attracting photographers from far and wide to capture their beauty. Oshino Hakkai is a nationally designated natural monument. This tour is a shared tour, and participants come from all over the world. Starting September 5th, buses will depart 30 minutes earlier every Saturday and Sunday, excluding weekends, on September 15th, September 23rd, October 12th, November 3rd and November 24th.

Hinohara Village is the only village on land in Tokyo. Deep inside the village, on a ridge well over 700m above sea level, lies the old house "Kyu Kobayashi Family Residence". Built in the mid-Edo period (more than 320 years ago), this mountain house is literally an "old house in the sky". This tour, which takes you there by mountain monorail that goes straight up a super steep slope of nearly 45 degrees, is an extremely extraordinary experience that will leave a deep impression on your memory, both geographically and historically, as well as physically. The tour meets at the Tokyo Back Mountain Base in front of JR Musashi-Itsukaichi Station, and includes transportation to the site by private car. *Hinohara Village has been designated as a national ecotourism promotion area, and as an exception, transportation to the ecotour site by car is permitted. (Your accompanying guide, Jinken, is a certified eco-tour guide for Hinode Village.) For lunch, you will be served at the Kobayashi Family House, with a lunchbox of light snacks (Cuban sandwiches) made specially for the Tokyo Urayama Base, and coffee brewed with water that participants themselves will have drawn from a special spring in the area. After experiencing the old mountain house, we will move on to another highlight of the day. We will stop at Kanoto Rock, a power spot known only to those in the know, and walk along the valley using chains. Here, too, you can experience a part of the local mountain worship and lifestyle culture. On the way back, we will cross a suspension bridge over the valley just beyond the Akigawa River from the village and enjoy a foot bath at a popular local hot spring. Once your feet are warm, we will head to a local cafe renovated from an old house, recommended by our guide (Jinken). We will take a break at CAFE POUND, the most popular cafe in the area, renovated from a Showa-era house by the owner himself. A private car will pick you up from the station, and you will be accompanied by a Hinode Village certified eco-tour guide. It will be a very fulfilling day where you can experience the lifestyle and culture of a mountain village. This is a premium tour with a capacity of only 6 people. (Participation is possible from one person. However, the minimum number of participants for the tour is 2 people.)

This is a tour that allows you to get a feel for Yokohama and make it a memorable trip, rather than visiting each famous spot quickly. At the time of Perry's arrival, Yokohama was a small, semi-fishing, semi-farming town of 100 households, but it has developed as a gateway to foreign countries and is now the largest city in Japan. The Minato Mirai area continues to evolve as a tourist destination, including the Red Brick Warehouse, Zou-no-hana Park, Hammerhead, and Air Cabin. As for food, there are many products that originated in Yokohama, such as bread, gyu-nabe, ice cream, and Neapolitan, and there are many shops that have been in business for over 100 years. Above all, the world's largest Chinatown highlights Yokohama's unique character. Yamashita Park, Nihon Odori, and Minato Mirai have also become filming locations for TV and movies. Therefore, people of all generations feel some kind of familiarity with Yokohama.

I'll be touring two popular tourist spots and sharing tips for first-time visitors to Yokohama to help them enjoy their trip with ease. Walking around Yokohama, I often come across scenery that makes me want to take photos. Even after living in the city for 30 years, I still find myself doing so. Not only does the scenery change with the seasons, but even throughout the day, I can enjoy the clear blue skies and the sunsets that change from yellow to orange to deep blue. While new buildings are constantly being constructed, some buildings reminiscent of the Meiji era remain. Yokohama offers many spots perfect as backdrops for dramas and movies of various themes. Visit the filming locations of recent TV dramas to feel closer to them. It's also fun to imagine how you would use these scenery as the backdrop for a drama. As the city where bread and ice cream were first introduced to Japan and where tonkatsu, Neapolitan pasta, and pudding à la mode were invented, I hope you enjoy these traditional flavors. You can also enjoy a food tour of Chinatown, one of the largest in the world, and experience the wonders of Yokohama not only with your eyes but also with your tongue.
