You can experience calligraphy, a traditional Japanese culture, using real tools. Unlike the calligraphy sets you can buy at shopping malls or schools, we use calligraphy tools procured from traditional calligraphy shops, so it's perfect for those who want to get a taste of the real thing and Japanese culture. This plan supports Japanese, English, Spanish, Italian, and French. Most calligraphy experiences take 60 to 90 minutes, but the JanDara calligraphy experience takes 120 minutes. You can communicate well with other calligraphers. Approximately 10 minutes from anywhere from Haneda Airport, Shinagawa, or Yokohama! We will rent Ota Sangyo Plaza PiO, which is a 3-minute walk from the station. This is a spacious 40 tatami Japanese-style room that can accommodate up to 54 people, where you can sit in a sitting position or sit on a horigotatsu (horizontal kotatsu) and do calligraphy with your feet down. If you are not comfortable sitting up straight, you can stretch your legs and participate in a relaxed state. In this workshop, you will experience the final coating and sprinkling of gold powder on old Japanese pottery that has been restored over time by a Kintsugi expert using real lacquer. The materials used are lacquer and real gold powder. Because it is a natural material, it is a traditional method that is completely food safe and ideal for tableware. Each step up to the finishing stage will be demonstrated using actual tools and materials, and we will introduce the history and philosophy of Kintsugi behind it, as well as various finishing methods and aftercare. Please enjoy the most moving moment of Kintsugi! On the day, you can choose either a small plate or a cup for the Kintsugi experience, and take the completed pottery home as it is. We will also prepare a relaxing tea time with beautiful Japanese sweets. Enjoy a relaxing time while touching Japanese tradition. (All workshops are in English) Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese repair technique that uses lacquer and gold to repair broken or chipped pottery. By decorating with gold or silver, rather than hiding scratches, you can breathe new life into them and create a sustainable cycle of cherishing things. Repairing also gives you a sense of peace of mind, so it is also called art therapy. Tennen Rishin-ryu swordsmanship, which began in the Edo period, is still passed down today, and at the Tennen Rishin-ryu Hino Dojo, students of the school hone their swordsmanship skills. You too can learn Tennen Rishin-ryu at an actual dojo. The swordsmen who trained Tennen Rishin-ryu in Hino formed the Shinsengumi, which was said to be the strongest group of swordsmen at the end of the Edo period, and were called the last samurai. By experiencing swordsmanship in Hino, the hometown of the Shinsengumi, you can feel the history and culture of the last samurai. The experience program is led by Masao Inoue, a descendant of Shinsengumi leader Genzaburo Inoue and chairman of the Tennen Rishin-ryu Hino Dojo.
