"Wool Picnic 2025 & Tohoku Fleece Day Iwate" will be held in Morioka, Iwate on June 1, 2025. This year, there will be fleece sales from sheep born and raised in the Tohoku + Niigata region, sheep shearing events, sales of rare local hogget curry, thread spinning guerrillas, and nomadic gers at the venue! It's a day for sheep lovers to gather. [Experience content] See, touch, and feel the texture of wool and the year of the sheep, and get familiar with handiwork at the venue. Experience sheep shearing and "homespun", a handicraft that has been passed down in Iwate since the Taisho era! Morioka is the only homespun production area in the country that produces hand-spun and hand-woven homespun. This is a great experience program where you can touch fluffy wool and experience the excitement of weaving a coaster with thread that you spun yourself. "Looms School of Hand-Spinning and Hand-Weaving" is a place where you can easily experience hand-spinning and hand-weaving in Morioka. The instructor will carefully support you and let you finish your own original work.
