At "HANAYAKA," you can experience the essence of the tea ceremony, the pinnacle of traditional Japanese culture. In an authentic Japanese-style room, filled with the scent of tatami mats, an experienced tea ceremony instructor will demonstrate the ancient art of "Otemae." Guests will enjoy the experience of actually holding a tea whisk and preparing matcha with their own hands. Scooping the matcha with a tea scoop, pouring hot water, and carefully whisking it with the whisk—these actions embody the spirit of "wabi-sabi," a concept also found in Zen. After the tea ceremony, enjoy your own prepared matcha with seasonal Japanese sweets. The moment when the refined sweetness and the bitterness of the matcha blend in harmony is a blissful moment in which you can experience the spirit of "omotenashi," a Japanese spirit that Japan is proud of. Beginners are also welcome to join, as instruction is easy to understand. Please take your time to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience in the silence.
