Noh, a traditional performing art, has been designated a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, along with other forms of art, including Kabuki. A special Noh performance, "Tokage Noh," is held only once a year at Kofuku-ji Temple in Nara, the sacred ground of Noh. This solemn performance, which fuses Buddhism and Noh, still retains a strong religious ritual feel, with applause being discouraged and viewing prohibited from the front. This event will feature a commentary by Petko Slavov, a PhD in Noh research, and Noh expert Yoshie Yamamoto, held in the main building of Yoshikien Garden, a cultural property normally closed to the public. After learning about Noh in a space steeped in history and tranquility, enjoy a unique evening experiencing a magical performance. Note: The photos of the Noh performance are different from those shown.
