We will visit “Kobo Daishi aka Kukai” in Okunoin graveyard between early dinner and bedtime. Licensed guides who can speak English take you the enjoyable tour.You will see a mystical Okunoin which is totally different from the daytime.

A resident of Koyasan who has a license to guide the grounds of Kongobu-ji Temple or a person who has experience working at a temple will guide you. Not only will you deepen your understanding of the history and culture of Koyasan, but we will also explain the daily life at the temple and the influence of Kukai in a fun way. The Machiishimichi pilgrimage route to Mount Koya is registered as a World Heritage Site along with the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route in Spain. A total of 180 signposts are placed every cho (approximately 109 meters) from Jison-in Temple to the Great Pagoda of Mount Koya. Take on the challenge of trekking along the approximately 20km-long Machiishimichi route with a guide over the course of a day!
