[Fukuhirakyo] Houheikyo is a majestic natural landscape formed by the Toyohira River and dense forests around the Houheikyo Reservoir. It has been selected as one of the Forestry Agency's "Top 100 Water Source Forests" and "Top 100 Reservoirs," and is one of the few natural landscapes in Sapporo. The scenery is especially precious during the autumn foliage season. [Jozankei] Jozankei is a resort rich in nature and close to nature. The Toyohira River that flows through Jozan Valley is also a famous spot for autumn foliage, and has a beautiful natural environment, making it one of the most well-known in Hokkaido. From the red suspension bridge over the Toyohira River, you can enjoy the "Futami Rock" and "Kappa Deep," which are the setting for the kappa legend. [Lake Toya] Lake Toya is an ice-free lake in the frigid zone, and you can see the clear lake all year round. Cherry blossoms bloom on the lakeside in spring, fireworks are launched at night in summer, and the forest is colored in autumn. [Showa Shinzan] Showa Shinzan is a volcano that erupted from December 1943 to September 1945. If you take a cable car from the foot of the mountain to the top, you can enjoy the beauty of the mirror-clear Lake Toya and the endless Pacific Ocean. If you walk along a gentle hiking trail, you will reach an open observation deck and enjoy the magnificent crater lake. [Yotei-san Famous Water Park] Mt. Yotei belongs to Shikotsu-Toya National Park and is one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan. Rainwater and snow that flows from Mt. Yotei melts and seeps into the ground, and the spring water that springs out is condensed into sweet spring water by natural filtration. This is a mixed tour and participants come from all over the world.

From Hosooka Observatory (east side), you can see the Kushiro Marsh and the meandering Kushiro River in the Kushiro Marsh, the 28th national park and the largest naturally rich low-lying marsh in Japan with a horizontal spread. The view from Hosooka Observatory, also known as the "Great View," is spectacular, and on a clear day you can see the Akan Mountains. Watching the sunset from Hosooka Observatory has also become popular recently. The untouched Hosooka Observatory is an observation deck that cannot be reached by large tourist buses. There is also a course that combines the Norokko train ride, where you can ride one way through the marsh from Kushiro city to Hosooka Observatory to Kushiro city, and then take a taxi back to see the Kushiro Marsh from a different angle.

We had an amazing experience with our guide Hide-san. He was very accommodating and explained many interesting details to us about what we were walking past in nature. We were fortunate enough to have sunny weather, so we had a clear view all across Lake Mashu from the top of the trail. It was also nice that we saw foxes on the drive there and back.
