Enjoy a sushi-making experience tour at the Makishi Public Market, a tourist attraction near Kokusai Street in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. Visit the market where Okinawan fresh fish that will become the "toppings" of sushi are purchased, and learn how to make sushi from the instructor. Our ancestors were shinobi samurai who started to serve Tokugawa Ieyasu (the first shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate) in 1582. The clan served the shogunate for 265 years. In 1868, the clan declined the invitation from the Meiji Government and became independent. We are the only lasting shinobi clan in Japan. We invite you to come to our clan dojo where real master practitioner and professional interpreters take charge of all workshops and seminars. This is good for people who want to get a deeper insight into our ninja and samurai cultures . We still handcraft our tools and weapons. Feel free to ask any questions as we have kept our shinobi samurai tradition for over 450 years.Our ancestors trained locals and their servants to be shinobi.(Ninja is a new word used in movies. Shinobi is the word which was commonly used in the feudal times,)The term "shinobi samurai" is not well-known, but you can be one of the few who knows the history and shinobi philosophy and mindsets. Experience woodworking using fruit trees in Yamanashi! You can make chopsticks, spoons, and plates using wood that is unique to the city of peaches and grapes, and take them home as souvenirs. A lacquer workshop in Maejima, Naha City, offers a "simple gold lacquer" experience class for tourists and those who want to try gold lacquering even though they don't have much time. This class incorporates traditional gold lacquering techniques, but is a shortened version that anyone can easily enjoy. You can have a unique experience of repairing broken vessels and broken items using the gold lacquering technique and breathing new life into them. "Simple gold lacquer" is perfect for travelers with limited time, and even beginners can participate with confidence.
