To be honest, it is difficult to find a place to take an activity tour by yourself. Gateway Tours can only accept one person per tour. (This is not a private tour as it is held at the same time as other tours.) It is many times more difficult to operate a Canadian canoe by yourself than it is to operate it with two people. For this reason, you will basically ride in the guide's canoe. The benefits are that you can leisurely go down the river, take photos and videos with your own camera, ask the guide various questions, and listen carefully to the stories of the field. Also, depending on the conditions on the day (mainly the wind direction), you can try a single-seater canoe in a separate boat from the guide. During the tour, you can learn about the history of the Mimi River and the Ainu, and stories unique to this area from the guide, and of course you can canoe while learning. The field is near New Chitose Airport and there is a free shuttle, so many people use it at the beginning or end of their trip, or during their free time on a business trip to Hokkaido. [Long Course] Canoe touring of about 8 kilometers from the meeting point, First Usakumai Bridge, to the vicinity of Chitose City Sports Center! As of 2024, Lake Shikotsu boasts the second highest transparency in Japan, and the Chitose River that flows from it. Enjoy the pleasure of river rafting, including gentle sections, narrow sections, and small but wavy sections! The guide will be in charge of the main maneuvering such as choosing the course and steering, so even those without experience are welcome!

[Short course only available in winter] Chitose in winter is below freezing even during the day! It's extremely cold, but there are many beauties that can only be seen in such a harsh environment. The course is a canoe tour of about 2.5 kilometers from under the highway overpass that runs through the town of Chitose to the area near the Chitose City Sports Center! The snowy scenery spreads out on the riverbank with a good view, and wild deer gather along the quiet river, and you can see salmon running upstream, which is becoming a symbol of the Chitose River, until around February! The experience lasts 30 to 40 minutes, and it takes about an hour from meeting to disbanding. *The tour may vary depending on the weather and river conditions on the day. *Most tours are conducted below freezing, so please take proper cold weather precautions. *Safety is our number one priority, so the tour may be canceled due to weather or other reasons. You can experience the thrill of a natural river, going over waves and passing through a tunnel of trees that protrude into the river!
