Nyoirinji Temple is said to have been founded by Gyoki during the Nara period and enshrines Nyoirin Kannon, a symbol of blessings and success for worshippers. It is a designated cultural property of Fukuoka Prefecture. Nicknamed "Frog Temple," Nyoirinji Temple began when its head priest brought back a jeweled frog from China.
