The Meiji era playhouse Korakukan is still active and performing live (popular theater and other) for over 115 years. The 2025 performances are as follows: April 23rd to July 27th: "Shitamachi Kabuki Gumi" - Leader Mimine Tooru -> Star actor Shingetsu Kaito -> Star actor Hitomi Hiroshi (Star actor Subaru Toma) - They will perform in rotation for about one month each time. August 1st to September 15th: "Kanzaki Jun & 10carats" Fabulous Revue Boys. Actress Murai Mayumi and former OSK Nippon Revue Company Subaru Mirai will perform. September 21st to October 28th: "Gekidan Yumeiro" - Leader Kano Kenji, former OSA Nippon Revue Company Wakaki Shiho, special appearance Endo Mariko. It is interesting that the performers change every year in this theater company formed just for the Korakukan performances. The show is enjoyable for people of all ages, so it has been well received, including school trips from elementary school to high school. Please enjoy a performance at Korakukan, a playhouse that is still in operation after a century. Kosaka Town in Akita Prefecture prospered due to the Kosaka Mine. The Meiji-era playhouse "Korakukan" was built in 1910 as a welfare facility for the Kosaka Mine employees. The exterior of the building is Western-style, while the interior is purely Japanese-style. Its most distinctive feature is its blend of Japanese and Western styles, which is rare for a playhouse. Staff dressed in black costumes will guide you through the Korakukan facility. Enjoy a truly eye-opening look behind the scenes of a living playhouse!

The stage actors of the theater company Warabi-za sing and dance traditional performing arts in Akita, Tohoku, and various parts of Japan. Five tastefully decorated silkworm houses are illuminated for the first time! This "place associated with samurai silk" is recognized as a Japan Heritage site in 2017. The winery "Pino Collina Matsukaoka" will open in 2020 in Matsukaoka. Fresh Japanese wine made from 100% grapes grown in Matsugaoka has won numerous awards including IWC, and has been selected for the G7 Hiroshima Summit. A special performance by Nakamura Hashigo, a kabuki actor from Tsuruoka, will be held in the illuminated 5th silkworm room of the Matsukeoka Kaikonjo(Matsugaoka Reclamation Site). Please enjoy Pinocholina Matsuoka's wine with the food of Tsuruoka, a UNESCO Gastronomic Creative City.
