The main thing you can observe is the Yaeyama Hime firefly. The way they blink is different from the fireflies seen in Honshu. Fireflies actually light up to mate. When they fly off all at once as if they had arranged it, they are surrounded by fireflies and are enveloped in their lights. The viewing spot is in the mountains, a 20-minute drive from the city. 本州のホタルとは違うひかり方で幻想的で感動しました。ホタル鑑賞の他にも八重山の植物や動物の説明もあり楽しかったです。ホタル鑑賞の後は星空鑑賞でしたが、曇り空のため夜景鑑賞になりました。高台から見える街の夜景も綺麗でした。ホテルまで送迎があり2時間程のツアー、楽しい時間を過ごせました。
