In the Yoshino River basin, as the seasons change, the "Yago Mist" phenomenon occurs due to the surrounding topography, weather, and river water temperature. The "Yago Mist" phenomenon refers to the mist (sea of clouds) that rises from the river and up the mountainside during periods of drastic temperature changes. The pure white sea of mist that spreads along the Yoshino River, with only the mountain peaks dotted in it, and the mist scattered along the river, is a sight unique to the topography of the Yoshino River basin. The best time to see it is around 7am in April and from October to December. If you get ready before dawn and wait at an observation spot, you can witness the fantastical mist moving in the light of the rising sun.
