The mangrove of the Oura River, which pours into Oura Bay, is one of the largest in Okinawa and is said to be in the best preserved condition in Okinawa. It is said that the richness of Oura Bay is due to the nutrients in the Yanbaru Forest slowly permeating the sea through the mud. We will guide you not only about the ecology of plants and small animals with mangroves, but also about the relationship between the Yanbaru forest and the sea ♪ Please enjoy the blissful time surrounded by the greenery of the mangroves and Yanbaru forest. ～ Flow of the day ～ ① We will meet at the parking lot on the promenade side of Wansaka Oura Park. Please contact the guide. 5 minutes ② Listen to a brief explanation about mangroves and enter the promenade. 5 minutes ③ Listen to explanations from the guide about small animals such as crabs and plants such as mangroves in various places. 50 minutes ④ At the final point of the promenade, take a break and tour the subsidence bridge. 10 minutes ⑤ Go back to Wansaka Oura Park through the promenade or Oura village, and you're done. ・ Untouched forest. Guided tour where you can feel the nature of Okinawa!・ 100 kinds of animals and plants have been confirmed on the course of about 600m.・ It is safe and secure as you walk along the maintained promenade. Once you step into the forest, you'll see a tropical jungle view that you can't see on the mainland. Approximately 100 species of flora and fauna have been identified in the untouched Forest of Horohoro, including large banyan trees, tropical plants, endangered species and natural monuments. ★ Recommended for the day you arrive in Okinawa or the day you depart from Okinawa ★ The Forest of Horohoro is about 30 minutes by car from the airport and downtown Naha. It is the closest place to the city and is a spot where you can enjoy the tropical nature. Let's go out to observe the nature of Yanbaru with a nature guide. On this tour, we will observe the first half of the relatively easy-to-walk promenade and turn back at the suspension bridge along the way. Please note that the departure time varies depending on the sunset time. April to September 19:30 to 21:30 October, November, March 19:00 to 21:00 December to February 18:30 to 20:30 This tour will be held with 2 or more people. ⚫︎Activity Features ・Kunigami Village Registered Guide Yanbaru nature guides who are knowledgeable about plants, wild birds, insects, amphibians, reptiles, etc. will explain. ・Great place to observe endemic species You may be able to observe Okinawa endemic species such as the Ryukyu Scops Owl, the Nosed Frog, and the Okinawa Giant Sawagani.・Best time for nature observation With the permission of the facility manager, we can enter the park at night after business hours, so you can observe creatures at night! ⚫︎Notes ・An additional admission fee for Hiji Falls is required (500 yen for high school students and above, 300 yen for elementary and junior high school students). ・We recommend wearing long sleeves to prevent mosquito bites. ・This tour only guides you through the first half of the park, where it is easy to observe creatures, and does not include a visit to Hiji Falls. ・If you want to visit Hiji Falls, please do so during the day's business hours.
