■ Shiogama ShrineShiogama Shrine is the head shrine of Shiogama Shrines all over Japan and the Ichinomiya of Mutsu Province. As the Ichinomiya of Mutsu Province and the guardian of Tohoku, it has long been revered by the Imperial Court and successive generations of the Date clan, feudal lords of Sendai. The main hall, worship hall, Shisokumon gate and other shrine buildings are designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan, and the Shiogama Sakura is also a designated natural monument of Japan. ■ Mount TamonOverlooking Matsushima, one of Japan's Three Most Scenic Views, it is one of the four great views of Matsushima, along with Otakamori in Higashimatsushima City and Ogiya in Matsushima Town, Toyama. ■ Taga Castle South GateThe Taga Castle South Gate has been restored as a new tourist attraction in 2024, the 1300th anniversary of the founding of Taga Castle.
