Great activity to take while you are in Kyoto. It was held in a cozy local florist's shop. It takes about 30 minutes and the guide was really good to take me slowly through the different steps of making a really nice kokedama ball and I was able to pick a plant of couple of options. Eventually she also have me some tips on how to make and care for kokedama at home. I recommend this activity to anyone staying in Kyoto that want to learn this art.

In this experience, you can observe them up close and learn about lacquerware production. The staff will explain it in an easy-to-understand way. Next, you will make your own original lacquered chopsticks at the place where the craftsmen actually work. Think about the design of the chopsticks and paint them with real lacquer. You can experience authentic lacquer painting. The lacquer craftsmen will teach you carefully, so you can make them yourself until they are completed. You will surely be satisfied. It's fun. After that, you can enjoy drinks made with lacquerware at the cafe and taste sweets. Please relax and enjoy the lacquerware experience.
