Why do not you challenge the making of bamboo lanterns that make holes in bamboo with bamboo drills? I think it will be a memory of friends and family travel ♪ ♪
I had so much fun with this activity! They had an English interpreter along to help out, and everything was explained simply, so it was easy to understand. There were different types of bamboo available to make a lantern with, from plain to cleanly sanded to painted ones (for an extra fee). There were a variety of templates to choose from (or you can bring your own), and the staff helped me choose the best drill bits to create my lantern image with. Thank you! We had an awesome time at the knife making experience in master Masaya Yoshidas workshop. One of his apprentices, Robert, a native English speaker, instructed and helped us all the way to the finished product. We love the knife and now use it in our Kitchen on a daily basis. Robert also answered every question we had about the rich history behind the craft of Japanese sword making and we got to observe and chat with the master too. Your knife is made from the same Tamagahane steel as a Katana, so it's a really cool and practical souvenir. Thank you so much for having us! Great memories!
