Let's make beautiful tassels using Shinamokko, each one with a different expression! ＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿＿ The Japanese linden tree is an indispensable part of the lives of the people of the Sekigawa area of the Atsumi region. After stripping the bark from the tree, Uetsu Shina cloth is made entirely by hand, going through 22 processes over 365 days. The experience of using this precious Shina is unique to this area. Because each strand is a natural fiber with a different expression, it can be made into unique and attractive charms and earrings. It is also nice that the venue is the footbath cafe Chitto Moche, within walking distance of the inn at Atsumi Onsen. After making it, enjoy a relaxing tea time. Choose your favorite glass and colored sand. 2. Put the colored sand into the glass in the shape of waves. We will explain how to make it, so anyone can easily make cute things. 3. Try your hand at making an authentic parquet keychain by cutting and gluing parquet blocks that make use of the natural wood color! Wood comes in a variety of colors, from brown, red, yellow, and even purple. The parquet block bars that form the basis of parquet work are made in advance by instructor Matsuura. You cut them with a craftsman's saw and combine them to make hearts, leaves, and any other shape you like. Once firmly glued together, polish them with sandpaper and finish with oil to complete the piece. Instructor Matsuura of Studio Kaede is a talented artist who won the top prize at the Dobi Exhibition in 2019. He will kindly teach even beginners the authentic craftsmanship!
