"Yaeyama Minsa" is a textile made of cotton, plain weave, and produced in Ishigaki City and Taketomi Town. The biggest feature is that the five and four kasuri patterns embody the idea of ``Forever and ever, until the end of the five (five) worlds (four).'' Yaeyama Minsa-ori goes through many processes to create a single piece of fabric, but just like in the past, many of these processes are done by hand with great care. At the Minsa Crafts Museum, customers can actually experience ``weaving'', one of the processes of Yaeyama Minsa weaving, for themselves. Our instructors will provide direct and detailed guidance, so even beginners can enjoy the experience with confidence.

せっかく石垣島に来たので、何か手作り体験をしてみたいと思いました。調べていたら伝統的な織物があるのがわかりました。そして体験できる事も。織り機に向かってヨコ糸を通して、トン、トンと織り込んでいくのですが、織り方も専門の方が親切丁寧に教えて下さるので安心して体験できました。途中で、これで大丈夫かしら?きちんとできてるかな?と不安になってもそばで専門の方が「大丈夫！その調子でね。」と優しく声を掛けて下さるので安心して最後までできました。「特徴である5つと4つの模様は、いつ(五)の世(四)までも末永く」という意味が込められていると教えてもらいました。そういった事も教えて頂けたのも良かったです。仕上げがあるので、後日の受け取りになりますが、無料配送もして頂けるので旅行の日程も気にせずに体験できるのもありがたかったです。又の機会があれば、もう少し大きな物にも挑戦したいなと思いました。室内での体験なので天候を気にせずに日程を組めるので安心です。

Next, you will make your own original flower vase using the wood turning wheel and plane that the craftsmen actually use. At the Sankai Beach in Minamichita-cho, located at the tip of the Chita Peninsula in Aichi Prefecture, we are holding a handmade experience class where you can feel the sea at the "Sea View Atelier". 1. Choose your favorite glass and colored sand. 2. Put the colored sand into the glass in the shape of waves. We will explain how to make it, so anyone can easily make cute things. 3. Decorate with natural sea things such as shells and seaweed. 4. Fill with hardening gel and it's done! You can also make a gel candle by adding a candle wick.
