Our ancestors were shinobi samurai who started to serve Tokugawa Ieyasu (the first shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate) in 1582. The clan served the shogunate for 265 years. In 1868, the clan declined the invitation from the Meiji Government and became independent. We are the only lasting shinobi clan in Japan. We invite you to come to our clan dojo where real master practitioner and professional interpreters take charge of all workshops and seminars. This is good for people who want to get a deeper insight into our ninja and samurai cultures . We still handcraft our tools and weapons. Feel free to ask any questions as we have kept our shinobi samurai tradition for over 450 years.Our ancestors trained locals and their servants to be shinobi.(Ninja is a new word used in movies. Shinobi is the word which was commonly used in the feudal times,)The term "shinobi samurai" is not well-known, but you can be one of the few who knows the history and shinobi philosophy and mindsets. They stitched several layers of cloth carefully stitch by stitch. Sashiko is a technique that was born from this and nowadays become one of traditional handicraft which was born from taking good care of things and the wisdom of life. At that time, there were no schools, and Sashiko was passed down from parent to child. Therefore, there is not just one technique, but multiple techniques. The repair method is the same. Here we would like to introduce some of the sashiko mending and darning techniques. Please use it for various purposes such as repairing precious clothes, making use of leftover cloth, and making art. You can take the coaster away. Please enjoy the stitching!!
