Designated as a traditional craft of Kumamoto Prefecture, it is a local toy that has been popular for a long time. It is said that the fugitives of the Heike clan made it over 800 years ago while feeling nostalgic for life in the capital. There are wooden toys called kijiuma in Fukuoka and Oita, but the kijiuma made in Hitoyoshi City in Kumamoto is the most gorgeous kijiuma that uses five colors.
