Try your hand at making an authentic parquet keychain by cutting and gluing parquet blocks that make use of the natural wood color! Wood comes in a variety of colors, from brown, red, yellow, and even purple. The parquet block bars that form the basis of parquet work are made in advance by instructor Matsuura. You cut them with a craftsman's saw and combine them to make hearts, leaves, and any other shape you like. The instructor, calligrapher Mikami, has a father and mother who are also calligraphers, and has been familiar with calligraphy since childhood. Mikami is very creative and energetic. Not satisfied with ordinary calligraphy paper, he runs around freely on the large calligraphy paper with a large brush held in both hands, and the characters he creates with his whole body are soon becoming a specialty of Naganuma Town. He also performs at Naganuma Town's summer festival and sunset market, and sometimes collaborates with local musicians. This program was created not only to show people this fun, but also to let them experience it.
