AGES BASE is located in the "Okinawa Craft Forest", about 15 minutes by car from Naha Airport. Okinawan wood is turned into an original pen & keychain! Why not experience the fun of "craftsmanship"? You can also choose different experiences for each group! ⚫︎Pen making and polishing experience (time required: about 60 minutes) Use a woodworking lathe to polish the shaft of a wooden pen with sandpaper. Each time you polish it, the wood surface becomes smoother and you can create your own original pen while enjoying the changes in the beauty of the wood grain. ⚫︎Pen making and carving experience (time required: about 120 to 180 minutes) Use a woodworking lathe to carve the shaft of a wooden pen with a bit (blade) into your favorite shape. "Yaeyama Minsa" is a textile made of cotton, plain weave, and produced in Ishigaki City and Taketomi Town. The biggest feature is that the five and four kasuri patterns embody the idea of ``Forever and ever, until the end of the five (five) worlds (four).'' Yaeyama Minsa-ori goes through many processes to create a single piece of fabric, but just like in the past, many of these processes are done by hand with great care. At the Minsa Crafts Museum, customers can actually experience ``weaving'', one of the processes of Yaeyama Minsa weaving, for themselves. Our instructors will provide direct and detailed guidance, so even beginners can enjoy the experience with confidence.
